Girly Meets Grunge

I titled this post after my caption on Instagram for this outfit. I feel like "girly meets grunge" perfectly sums up this look. I love to add some edginess to my looks from time to time because it helps me get a sense of the "bad girl" that I am too scared to be.

This look consists of a graphic tee, a faux-leather moto jacket, destroyed boyfriend jeans, and my Valentino rockstud dupes! The faux-leather moto jacket was a sale steal from Hollister. I think I paid $25 for this jacket when it was originally $75. $25 may not sound like a steal but I thought the price was right for a jacket that fits like a dream. Another giant plus is that it doesn't have too many details on it which makes it the perfect mixing-and-matching piece.

The graphic tee was a free tee-shirt from my brother. The creepy mask is the logo for his band @thevoongoons. I love the way the shirt fits and I like to show him my support!

These distressed jeans are from New York and Company. They were very pricey but I got an amazing employee discount when I was working there so the price was right for me. I would definitely recommend distressing your own jeans or buying some cool ones from a thrift store that will probably be less than $10.

And finally, the gorgeous "Valentino" pumps from Charlotte Russe. I'm telling you, it is very hard to spot the difference between the real and the faux from a picture.

I wore this look to one of my brother's shows. Instead of the pumps, I opted for some comfortable booties. I am not sure if people were paying attention to my fabulosity but I sure felt great. The night was warm (as it always is in California), my brother was playing, and I was cheering him on with both hands in the "rock on" position.

Until the next one! XOXO

The Goodwill Skirt: Part 1

As you may have already guessed from the title, this post is going to be about a skirt from Goodwill. I have become insanely attracted to thrift shops and flea markets lately. I am just so tired of trying to keep up with trends that I have decided to try to find pieces that will enhance my wardrobe to make it more unique. There is also something so intriguing about one man's trash being another one's treasure.

I scored this wool skirt from Goodwill for only $7! Yeah, 7.  Its perfect for me because uhm, it was $7 but also because it is an a-line. A-line skirts are the most flattering on my body so they're pretty much all I ever want to wear.

This skirt screams Autumn but I couldn't wait a whole year to wear it so I went along with the Fall vibes. I paired it with a maroon turtleneck bodysuit and Dior boots (sexy!).To play it up a bit more I added a camel-colored woven belt and used this cute little basket as a purse.

Luckily, I was able to rock this outfit at a cute little cafe on a brunch date with my best friend! Yes, the waffles were good.

Until the next one! XOXO

Slouchy Stripes

I have come to the realization that I am OBSESSED with stripes. Whether they're bold and blocky, pinstripe, horizontal or vertical, I love it! I scored this slouchy number from JCrew during the holiday season. Its meant to be a bit oversized but this is especially big on me because it is one size too many. Big is not a problem here though. I can tuck this blouse into any one of my high-waisted pieces and look weekend-ready!

I tucked my blouse into this old favorite sailor skirt from Express (if you look back on my previous posts, you'll find one where I talk about this skirt). I love this skirt because it is very warm and extremely versatile. The panama hat is a great accessory from the beloved Target. I believe it was around $12-$15.

The boots are Dior boots that I snagged for the low, low price of $90!!! I got them on sale from TheRealReal and they are literally one of my most treasured pieces! I love to wear them every time I want a little bit of sex appeal in my looks. There is just something about tight black leather boots that can take your outfit from boring to sexy!

I especially like this outfit for a gloomy day where you can sit down at your favorite cafe and read your favorite book. Now that I am not in school I like to read books on fashion. Whether its fashion history or a style guide, I love it! I also like to keep up with fashion and lifestyle bloggers on Snapchat and Instagram to continue to get inspired.

I hope my blog and Instagram library can inspire you to create looks that will make you feel like you own the world that is our runway.

Until the next one! XOXO

The trench vest

Okay so recently I have been very inspired by cloudy days. I do not know what it is about them but I really like how my pictures come out on cloudy winter days. Anyway, this outfit is one of my favorites because I am wearing a lot of my favorite pieces! First of all, that trench vest! I absolutely love this piece! I saw it on a woman at the mall one day and she looked fabulous. She paired it with rolled up boyfriend jeans and peep-toe booties (it was during the Spring) and it blew me away. I loved how versatile and classy this trench can be. I asked the woman where she got it and she said Target. Target! Of all the places, Target! I immediately went to the website and there it was; my beloved trench by WhoWhatWear for $40.

Another one of my favorites is my striped mock-neck long sleeve shirt. I bought it at Zara for $10 and I haven't taken it off. Its very fitted and goes with absolutely everything! The skirt that I am wearing is also another staple piece. It is a faux-leather a-line button up skirt from Express. The only complaint about this piece is that its way too big at the waist so it constantly rides up (I was too lazy to return it online).

With the exception of the Zara top, everything you see in this picture is stuff that I have had in my closet for forever! I honestly think its so much fun to look to your closet and see what you can put together. However, do not deny yourself the pleasure of shopping for staple pieces that you can wear again and again (like this trench).

Until the next one! XOXO

Comeback: Double buns

After 10 months of being MIA on the blog, I have decided to come back! I really missed blogging but it was becoming super difficult balancing university and the blog. I was trying to ace my classes to graduate with honors (success!) and find someone to consistently take my picture (not so much a success). Now that I am out of school for the semester, I am trying to take consistent outfit pictures to get my mojo going again. I have built a decent library of photos on Instagram (@soozenceee) if you would like to catch up with me. This first post will be the beginning of my catching-up-to-where-I-am-currently-on-Instagram. Lets get started!

Double Buns

So I have been wanting to do my hair like this for a long time but never had the guts (or the teasing comb) to try it out. After graduating university, I went back home to California. I was sitting in my mom's guest room bored out of my mind when I decided to try this out. I convinced my younger brother to take my picture in exchange for food and I was back in the game!

This hair-do gave me major Asian girl vibes so I decided to pair it with an outfit that looked like it could fit in in Tokyo. I bought this Express jacket on sale for $40 about two years ago and it has become a major wardrobe staple for me. It is super tailored so it gives me a very lean look with anything I wear it with! The "dress" is actually an Eva Mendes skirt that is way too long for me. Its a gorgeous high-waisted navy with red polka-dot skirt. I cinched it with a skinny black belt to define my waist and paired it with black heeled booties for extra edge!

Okay so I am not going to post a hair tutorial for this look because I am not the best at doing hair but the tutorial I followed was on Youtube by a beauty blogger named @DulceCandy. She is the cutest thing and her tutorial is super short (4:25) and straight to the point!

This look received a lot of really great feedback on the gram and I hope you like it too! My main style motivation is to wear looks that make me feel awesome, regardless if they're trendy or not. I hope you can look to your wardrobe to find styles that make you feel great too!

Until the next one! XOXO
